As part of this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations, local historian and storyteller, Lisa Kenwright was due to host the Women of Frome walk. Sadly, bad weather and the snowy conditions meant the walk had to be rescheduled.
We are delighted to announce that the walk will now take place on Wednesday 10th May, from 11am – 12:30pm.
The Women of Frome is a walk based on the 2022 Frome Museum exhibition of the same name that highlighted the lives of women from the town that were pioneers or excelled within their field.
Lisa has created a special edition of the walk that focuses on women of Frome known for their role in social reform. From educational reformer Clara Grant to Emma Sheppard and her work with so-called fallen women at the workhouse, the walk will visit sites where they worked and lived, putting their lives into historical context on the way.
The walk will commence outside the Cheese & Grain and finish at Ecos Court off Weymouth Road, a walk of around 2.5 km or 1.5 miles including some steep slopes.
Tickets cost £7.30 (including fees) and can be purchased here.
