Understanding your home’s energy needs

Local people who are considering refurbishing their homes are invited to an event at Frome Town Hall on Tuesday 23rd July at 7.30pm. The event is part of a series of free talks on Retrofit, which is the act of improving your home to increase its energy efficiency.

‘Retrofit: Understanding your home’ is hosted by Frome Town Council’s Community Retrofit Lead, Sally Richards and Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE). The talks take place every six weeks and are open to anyone interested in finding out more about Retrofit no matter what stage they are at. Those offering Retrofit services such as building contractors are also welcome as there will also be plenty of chance to network and share suggestions, thoughts and contacts.

Sally said, “Since the project launched last year we’ve been able to carry out Retrofit assessments for 50 households and have many more on the waiting list. It is great to see such a high level of interest so if you are want to find out more, please do come along to any of our events – we’d love to see you and get you started on your Retrofit journey.”

The talk on 23rd July will delve into the low cost and low risk measures homeowners can install themselves, as well as considering what repairs to keep an eye out for to help ensure homes stay dry and less draughty.

Cllr Fiona Barrows said, “We know that many people want to do what they can to help the environment as well as making homes healthier for themselves and their family. Retrofitting, especially with lots of older buildings across our town, is a great way to take action. It can help make your house cosier in the winter and cooler in the summer while doing something for the climate.”

The Retrofit events are free to attend but please book your space so the team know you are joining them.
