Three Cheers for Frome Volunteers

There are so many organisations, charities and community groups in Frome who rely on the help of volunteers and so Frome Town Council joined forces with Volunteer Frome to end the year with mince pies and a festive thank you.

Organisations and charities such as Frome Town Hall tenants Fair Frome, Frome FM, Active and in Touch and WHY, others based in Frome like the SHARE shop, Community Fridge, Community Cars, SPARK and the Discover Frome Information Point sent their volunteers to the town hall.

Mayor Shelia Gore said “It was a small thank you to volunteers this week, and good to celebrate what has been a fantastic year, with mince pies and tea. The gathering was an opportunity to show our appreciation, and it was wonderful to have so many volunteers together in one place. Volunteers do such an amazing job and really make a difference in our community.  None of the work that the organisations do could be done without the volunteers. It’s clear they get a lot out of it too, as you can see by all the smiling faces.”

2017 saw the launch of Volunteer Frome by the council, a website designed to put all the opportunities in one place and creating a network for groups and individuals. If you’d like to offer your help to support the community take a look at opportunities at www.volunteerfrome.org.

Here at the Town Hall we also offer training sessions for organisations, community groups and charities and there are many more sessions to come in the New Year, such as data protection, emergency first aid, budget planning and funding.
