Frome Town Council has changed the way that it’s going to be funding events in Frome in 2017 – and Cllrs are asking the town to have its say on which events the Town Council funds, with a budget of £30k available. A special voting day where people can decide on which events they’d like to see in the town will take place on 11th March, at Frome Football Club.
Kate Hellard Community Projects Officer explains “We’re asking anyone who’d like to have their say on the events that happen in their town to register their interest online or by phone. From this list of names, we will randomly select people to attend a voting day on 11th March 2017, where they will listen to pitches from local organisations who would like FTC funding to help them put on an event in Frome.”
Residents selected will need to be free on the 11th March, all day (9.30am – 5pm) and be happy to spend the day listening to pitches and making decisions on where they think the £30k budget should be spent. The event will be at Frome Football Club. The Town Council will provide lunch and other refreshments throughout the day.
Kate continues “Those selected to attend will get the chance to have their say on how local money is spent and know that they’ve had a real impact on what happens in Frome over the next year. We are aiming to have a voting panel made up of all ages and from across all areas of the town but will only be able to achieve this if enough people register their interest in being involved. Anyone aged 10 and over can register, those 10-17 years of age will need to have a responsible adult who can be their chaperone for the day.”
To register your interest please complete the survey online at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7V8G7TM by 22nd February or call 01373465757 to register over the phone. Those selected will hear back by 1st March 2017.
