Support service for survivors of sexual violence joins Frome Community Hub

A new monthly drop-in session by Safe Link is starting at Frome Town Hall, helping people access face-to-face support in a safe and nonjudgemental space. The sessions will take place on the second Wednesday of each month, from 10am to 1pm, starting on 10th July. You can come along for yourself or on behalf of someone else.

Michaela Chewins, an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) says, ‘At Safe Link, we want to ensure everyone can get the support they deserve, wherever is most convenient and comfortable for them. We know it is not always easy to reach out for support, so we aim to be as accessible as possible and ensure we bring our service to you. We are friendly, non-judgemental and here to listen. Pop in to see us for a chat and see how we may be able to help.’

Safe Link offers a variety of practical and emotional support services for victims and survivors of sexual violence and sexual abuse, and their families, across Avon and Somerset. They support people of all ages and genders who have experienced sexual violence, whether their experience is recent, ongoing, or many years ago. They can also offer dedicated support for groups that often face additional barriers to support, including children and young people, BME individuals, LGBTQIA+ people and those with learning disabilities.

You do not need to report your experience to the police to access support. If you are unsure whether to report your experience, Safe Link can answer your questions about reporting, investigations and court, and provide support throughout the process if you do report.

Simply come along to Frome Town Hall on one of the following dates, from 10am to 1pm, and ask for Safe Link at reception.

  • 10th July
  • 14th August
  • 11th September
  • 9th October
  • 13th November
  • 11th December

If you can’t make it in person or would prefer to talk another way, you can contact Safe Link’s helpline on 0333 323 1543. You can also contact them by live chat online, by email or post. All contact details can be found at www.safelinksupport.co.uk/contact.
