Following a series of successful sessions earlier in the Summer, more drop in times have been arranged by Frome Town Council for people wanting to try Frome’s Outdoor Gym on the Old Showfield.
The sessions are ideal for anyone wanting to use the gym who isn’t confident to go it alone or people who need refreshing on the variety of exercises you can do on the equipment there. Anyone over the age of 18 is very welcome to attend, no matter what their level of fitness is. Qualified physical activity instructors will be on hand at the sessions, which are very informal and free to attend, to advise people on using the gym.
One participant of the sessions held earlier this year commented, “Thank you for the opportunity to be shown how to use the outdoor gym. For me, being in the fresh air and open green space was much more fun than using indoor gym equipment.” Another added, “I really enjoyed the session and it was useful learning how to use all of the equipment. It has really given me the confidence to go and use the equipment now.”
Councillor Gary Collinson said, “The outdoor gym is a great addition to the Old Showfield and it’s been well used this summer. We want to keep supporting more people to make use of it, as it’s a free and easily accessible way of being more active, so I’d encourage people to come along and give these sessions a try.”
Sessions, which will last 45 minutes, will be held on alternate Mondays at 9.30, starting from 17th September until 29th October. Two evening sessions will also be held, on Tuesday 18th September and Tuesday 2nd October. It’s hoped to arrange weekend sessions in the future too.
