A series of free talks around climate change and energy will take place over the next 8 months at Frome Town Hall. Starting with ‘What is Climate Change’, Nikki Jones, a researcher and writer on climate change and energy will explore a range of important issues. The talks will culminate in an evening of discussion and planning on how we can work together to address these important subjects and take action. The following dates are planned:
28th September 2017 – What is Climate Change?
19th October – The Oil and Gas Industry: A Beginner’s Guide
23rd November – Global Energy Trends
14th December – UK Energy, Emissions and Targets
15th February 2018 – Is Nuclear the Answer?
22nd March – Land Use and Climate Change
19th April – The Way Forward
Roger Saunders who helped to organise the series said ‘Nikki is a fantastic speaker and we are lucky that she is giving her time for free to raise awareness and collect donations for Solar Aid. Climate change can be a confusing subject but it is an issue that affects us all as our climate begins to change. Locally flood risks are increasing and air pollution is high in many areas. Do join us for an informative and interesting evening on 28th.’
The talks will take place in Frome Town Hall, from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. Entry is free. Frome Town Council are hosting the series with support from Sustainable Frome and East Mendip Green Party. For more information see: frometowncouncil.gov.uk/cleanfuture
