On Friday 22nd November, Frome’s annual lantern parade and Christmas lights switch on takes place from 5pm to 7pm. As a result, the following road closures, diversions and amendments to bus routes will operate between 4pm and 9pm. Please note that no non-emergency vehicles are permitted during the road closure.
Roads
The following roads are closed between 4pm and 9pm.
- Bath Street
- Eagle Lane
- Church Street
- Gentle Street
- Palmer Street
- Stony Street
- King Street
- Catherine Hill
- Cork Street
- Market Place
- The Bridge
Car parks
The following car parks are open and unaffected by the road closure:
- Cattle Market
- North Parade
- Merchant’s Barton
- Vicarage Street
Cork Street car park will be closed from 4pm to 9pm, with no access in or out.
Buses and taxis
Buses will stop at Gorehedge/Christchurch Street East and at North Parade, diverting around the town centre via Christchurch Street West. The X34 will commence and terminate at Fromefield.
The taxi rank on Cork Street will be closed between 4pm and 7pm. Taxis will be available from a temporary rank outside Marks & Spencer.
Lantern parade participants
Anyone taking part should meet at St John’s church by 6pm; they can buy hot drinks from the stall in St John’s before the parade. The theme this year is ‘Winter Woodland’. Two people per lantern, please.
Lost children
Wristbands for children are available from the George Hotel (in the old Coffee #5 cafe) and from St John’s Church – please pick one up for your child and add contact details.
