Starting this year, young people aged 18-25 in Frome will have the opportunity to take part in work experience placements in Murrhardt, Germany as part of a project led by Frome Town Council.
As one of Frome’s Twin Towns, Murrhardt is home to a wide variety of businesses ranging from care organisations, auto dealerships, and a solar energy company; many of whom have already expressed interest in taking on Frome’s youth.
Frome Town Councillor Cath Puddick said, “Taking advantage of something like this is always attractive to a potential employer, and is a great icebreaker in any job interview. It enables the individual to pick up both core skills related to their career of interest, and softer transferable skills picked up from experiencing a different culture and environment. We’re excited about the potential here for our young people and encourage anyone interested to apply. You never know where it might take you!”
Participants will have 1-2 week placements at a business in Murrhardt and will stay with host families in the local area. If you think you might be interested in taking part and would like to find out more, please contact Charlie Orr via orrc@frometowncouncil.gov.uk
On the 4th of January, Councillor Cath Puddick and Charlie Orr discussed the scheme on Radioactive – FTC’s Health and Wellbeing radio show on Frome FM. Click the MP3 below to listen to that part of the show.
