You may have spotted some playful additions to Frome’s parks recently as part of Frome Town Council’s Play Strategy.
The Community Development team have been exploring ways of being more playful in the town and have organised some permanent installations including dragon hopscotch and mimic me spot Victoria Park, a giant snakes and ladders at Welshmill, a trail along Weylands, and leapfrog at the Old Showfield.
Cllr Andy Wrintmore said, “If you’ve not seen them already, do head to your local park to discover these playful makeovers. We’ve already had parents, grandparents and carers telling us how much joy the games are bringing to their families. Hope to see you for a game or two and please do share your photos with us as we love to see people getting out and about to enjoy all that Frome has to offer.”
These installations, along with free pop-up play sessions which have been taking place across the town, are part of Choose Play – a campaign to take play a bit more seriously! It aims to encourage people to think differently about play in our town and highlighting that it can, and should be, for anyone and everyone. Find out more at www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk/choose-play
