Health & Climate conference this July

People from Frome and across the country are being invited to attend an upcoming conference to learn about an innovative project which is tackling health and climate issues together at a grassroots level. This event will tell the story of a unique partnership and how we have joined forces to make a difference to health and climate change in our town.

You will hear bursts of inspiration from guest speakers including: Jonathan Higman (NHS Somerset ICB), Dr Rita Issa (climate-focussed GP and activist), Simon Roberts (CEO of Centre for Sustainable Energy), Yvonne Bignall (award-winning nature coach) and Grace Maddrell (author of Tomorrow is Too Late), as well as members of our project team – including: Dr Helen Kingston, Charlotte Carson, Nikki Brain, Jo Morris, Emma Parker and Sue Palmer – to hear about their groundbreaking work in Frome.

Expect special tours and breakout sessions where we all have a chance to input and be a part of the change. Our conference will inspire you to take action for your own wellbeing and for the future of your community. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people, share ideas and learn how to get involved in creating a fairer future for all.

Green & Healthy Project Manager, Sue Palmer stated “The conference will be an interactive day with opportunities for two-way conversations to share ideas and tackle challenges together. We can’t wait to share our story and look forward to welcoming you.”

Jenny Hartnoll (Health Connections Lead) who will also be speaking at the conference said “Come along and join in with this great community initiative.”

The Health & Climate Conference takes place at The Cheese & Grain in Frome, Somerset on Friday 15th July, from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Register now to be a part of the vision for a Green & Healthy Future in Frome and beyond. Lunch is included with the tickets which are scaled to income with free bursary places available and must be booked in advance.

Funded by The National Lottery Climate Action Fund, the Green & Healthy Futures programme recognises how the health of people and the planet are inextricably linked and seeks to address these issues together through a number of community-led initiatives. The programme possesses a unique partnership between Edventure: Frome, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council who work together to create climate and health win-wins in Frome.
