Frome’s community champions celebrated at the Annual Town Meeting – the first meeting at Frome Town Hall
On Wednesday (5th April) evening Toby Eliot, Mayor of Frome, chaired the town’s annual meeting – the first in Frome Town Hall. After updates on the work of the Council over the past year, Toby awarded the Mayor’s civic awards to Rupert Kirkham, Director of Frome FM, Jane Norris, Royal British Legion and, posthumously, to Griff Daniels for work in developing a vibrant live music scene in Frome.
Toby Eliot said, “I’ve had an amazing year meeting so many people and organisations all doing marvellous things in the town. My civic awards represent the tip of an iceberg, I would love to have been able to present an award to everyone I’ve met. But these three-people stood out for me.
“We were delighted with the turn out, over 80 people from all parts of the community squeezed into the Council Chamber. There was a good discussion on various issues raised by the audience on railings in the town centre, cycling safety, air pollution and litter piling up in the more residential areas of the town.”
Frome FM, now a tenant of the Town Hall live broadcast the meeting. See their website here for more broadcast information http://frome.fm/
