Deputy Mayor Cllr Andy Jones attended the recent Frome Town Band award ceremony at the Merlin Theatre, recognising the talent and attainment of several of the band’s musicians. June Walsham of Frome Town Band said:
“We were delighted to welcome councillor Andy Jones to our concert and award ceremony. Frome Town Band is a community band and we welcome players of all ages and abilities. The membership fee of only £9 a month includes the loan of an instrument, if required. This year we have been doing some extra fundraising and for a limited time we will be offering free tuition for players who’d like some extra input to improve their skills. In September we’ll be again offering hands-on experience of playing an instrument to children in Frome schools.
We’re very grateful for the support of Frome Town Council, to everyone who contributes to our fundraising and collections and also to our lovely, generous audiences.”
Cllr Andy Jones said “It was a pleasure to attend the concert and hand out awards to some of the band’s very talented musicians. Frome Town Band have been building confidence and nurturing talent in our town since 1997 and do fantastic work making music education accessible to everyone. Thanks to June and the team for the invitation.”
