Frome’s annual Sports Festival begins on Sunday 29th April, starting with free sports tasters in Victoria Park and Mary Bailey playing fields from 10am to 2pm.
Everyone is welcome and can try BMX workshops, Archery, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Wheelchair Basketball, Kids Circuit and Fitness Classes, an Inflatable Assault Course, and Frome Town Council’s Smoothie Bike. Also, Fusion are giving free kids swim vouchers to any child attending their sessions at the Sports Festival.
During Sports Festival week, there will be free Pilates Mat Classes at Pure Moves.
The Bowls Club are having an Open Day is from 11am to 3.30pm on the 22nd April, and they will also be giving free coaching on 5th May from 10am to 12 noon.
Sports Festival organiser Sue Willis said ‘This week of free tasters is a great way to get off the sofa and try a new sport! There are lots of different activities on offer, with something for all ages and abilities. It’s also a great opportunity for Frome’s sports clubs to show what they have on offer. If you want something a little less active but just as fun, try Mayhem – it’s a relaxed day of silliness in a wonderful setting.’
On Monday 7th May, Frome Town Council have organised lots of fun and games at Mayhem in the Meadow. This free family friendly event, from 11am to 2pm in Rodden Meadow will have Nature Themed Activities, Crafts, Singing and Silly Games. Yummy food and drink will be on offer from Fair Frome’s Wrap and Roll community dining.
Councillor Gary Collinson said “ I am really looking forward to Sports Fest. It has become an annual feature of the Frome Diary and rightly so. We will be doing walking football and tug of war again in the Meadow, so any teams interested in taking part should get in touch.’
