A new online platform dedicated to supporting families across Frome has been launched by Frome Town Council. FIND Frome, which stands for Family Information Networking Directory, is an easy to use website enabling residents to find the right information needed for their family, all in one place.
Frome Town Council have witnessed first-hand the power of community and local connections when it comes to building a strong and resilient town. This directory has been created to help do just that and offer a range of information on local services, organisations, and community groups, as well as resources for families and professionals.
Cllr Maxine Crawley said, “We really believe in the ethos that it takes a village to raise a child. So, we have developed this project to join the dots, bring people together and meet a gap in information and signposting for practitioners, parents, carers and the wider community. I hope that many people will find the service offers the information and support they need when they need it.”
The directory complements the work the council has been doing with the Link and Learn training programme which recently focused on the importance of enabling play within our communities and how to start conversations with young people around mental health and accessing the right care locally.
All the categories covered by the directory are extensive, from family support and advice to childcare, education, and groups for young people, as well as a round-up of the wealth of wonderful family-friendly activities and places to go in and around Frome.
This new website enables families to find support within their own networks and the local community, followed by help to access the most appropriate statutory and voluntary services locally if needed. By empowering families and communities in this way it is hoped there will be a reduced demand on statuary and specialist services.
If your organisation officers support or services for families and you would like to be added to the directory, please email Children and Young People’s Project Officer, Melody Hunter Evans on mhunterevans@frometowncouncil.gov.uk.
