Energy advice pop up at Jobcentre Plus

Following the success of an energy advice roadshow in April, Frome’s team of Energy Advice Champions are popping up at Frome Jobcentre Plus on Monday 1st July from 10am to 1pm. The team are part of Green and Healthy Frome’s Healthy Homes project , helping Frome residents access free, impartial advice on keeping their homes warm, dry, draught-free and comfortable. The team can also advise or signpost if you’re in debt to your energy supplier, if you need help to understand your bill, or if there is grant funding available to resolve a particular issue.

Frome’s team of Energy Advice Champions are volunteers, who have received training from the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) in Bristol. The team will be on hand to help at a series of pop-up events across the year, including sessions at evenings and weekends.

Cllr Anita Collier said ‘Living in a warm, dry home has huge benefits for people’s health, both physical and mental. Sadly, as we know, a lot of housing falls short of providing it, whether rented or privately owned. The Healthy Homes team are friendly and knowledgeable and can help with many common problems, such as advice of draughtproofing or ventilating your home, or energy-saving tips.”

For those unable to attend sessions or who need more in-depth advice, The Energy Advice Volunteers also offer home visits.  They will be able to help residents install simple energy-saving measures such as draught-proofing, thermal curtains, LED light bulbs, and radiator panels and help set up heating controls.  You can request a visit by emailing energyadvice@frometowncouncil.gov.uk or calling 01373 480391.

Green and Healthy Frome is funded by the National Lottery and incorporates projects from Edventure, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council, all focused on the health of people and planet, and how they are closely connected.
