Come Together Frome Sunday (before Blue Monday): line-up confirmed for free afternoon of events at Frome Library
Blue Monday, the day social scientists claim we are at our lowest ebb, will be preceded on Sunday 15 January by a day of fun for all. A free afternoon of entertainment and events including a delicious afternoon tea, live music and a range of activities for all ages and interests will cheer everyone up at Frome Library from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm.
The event is part of Fair Frome’s 2017 programme of community meals and the charity is partnering with Friends of Frome Library and Active and in Touch Frome to offer a wide selection of activities – free tasters, live music and workshops. Painted People will offer free face-painting during the afternoon, while the Children’s Festival are providing a play area. There are two drop-in craft workshops for children of all ages (under 8s accompanied). At 2.00 pm – 2.40 pm there is Jewellery Making with Creative Caterpillars and at 3.00 pm – 3.45 pm ARTSPLASH (Zainab Nigoumi) will show children how to make decorative base boards for calendar pads and a special “happiness wish” for 2017 and/ or bring your own diary to customise.
Anyone with mal-functioning small electrical items can bring them to Share’s electrical repair workshop between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm.
Reading Allowed, the shared reading group that meets at the library every Monday from 11 – 1 pm, are offering a taster session from 2.00 – 3.00. Come along and enjoy sharing some short stories/ poetry with this friendly group.
The Frome Ukelele Group, Frukes will be performing from 2.30 pm – 3.00 pm.
If knitting and crochet is your thing, enjoy working on your own project or just turn up and work on a short activity provided.
New Year’s Resolutions – make achievable changes with Bill Palmer and Teresa Hadland in a free workshop at 3.15 pm.
Other groups who will be represented are Contact the Elderly and the Active Living Groups. The town has so much to offer for all ages and the day is a great opportunity to relax, meet people and find out what’s going on in Frome.
