Celebrating nature’s comeback with sold out film screening

The September screening of ‘Wilding’, based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book about the Knepp Estate, and ‘Rewilding – Regenerating the Treescape’ by local film maker Charly Le Marchant, was a sell-out success.

Hosted by Frome Town Council at the Merlin Theatre on Friday 27th September, the poignant films explored the transformative power of restoring natural habitats for both land and people. The evening ended in thought-provoking Q&A with a panel consisting of Cllr Sara Butler, Charlie Burrell from the Knepp Estate, film maker Charly Le Marchant, Jan Standard founder of local charity Heal Rewilding and Ancient Tree Specialist Julian Hight.

Cllr Sara Butler said, “It was such a joy to bring these films to Frome and to help to further the conversation around ecological restoration, from why it matters to how to make it happen. The importance of reconnecting with nature was evident but also inspired us all to take action for our planet’s future.”

Due to the high level of interest, The Merlin Theatre will be showing a seconded screening of ‘Wilding’ at the Merlin Theatre Friday 11th October at 7pm. To book your ticket go to www.merlintheatre.co.uk/wilding—encore/

Frome is full of ways to support nature in our area, including the Wild Bunch which promotes wildlife-friendly approaches to gardening, helping to create Frome’s own interactive digital wildlife map to get a local level baseline for biodiversity and the Wild about Trees Project aimed at planting and protecting our local trees.
