The Healthy Homes team are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help those struggling locally to reduce fuel bills and keep warm and healthy in their homes.
Energy Advice Champions are part of the Healthy Homes project at Frome Town Council which was created to ensure that local people get the support they need, whether that’s questions about how to lower energy bills, home insulation or dealing with energy debt.
Energy Advice Volunteer Co-ordinator, Caroline Wajsblum said, “Joining the crew means becoming part of a friendly and supportive team. Full training will be provided by the Centre of Sustainable Energy and hours of volunteering, whether daytime or evening, can be flexible so everyone is very welcome. For those that are interested, there will also be a free opportunity to complete a City & Guilds Level 3 in Energy Awareness.”
As a volunteer you will provide energy advice to groups and individuals with initiatives such as regular drop-in energy sessions, planned pop up events, and home visits for those that need an additional support such as help with setting heating controls and draft proofing.
Cllr Fiona Barrows said, “If you can spare some time and would like to make a difference to people’s lives in our town, reducing their energy bills and lowering their carbon footprint, we would love to hear from you.”
The deadline to register your interest with the team is 9am on Thursday 19th September. Find out more about volunteering with Frome Town Council.
