Residents and businesses all over Frome fully embraced the town’s first Great Big Green Week which took place on 18th September to 26th September. With over 40 events there was something for everyone in the week long programme celebrating the community taking action in tackling the climate emergency and Frome’s wonderful green spaces.
From enjoying wildlife walks, building towers, watching films or live music at Plastic Free Tea in the Park to enjoying delicious food from local suppliers at We Feed Frome, many soaked up the atmosphere and explored and discussed what we expect from world leaders at COP26, the biggest climate summit being held later in November.
Cllr Rob Collet enjoyed the event and said: “It was a joy to see so many getting involved in Great Big Green Week, the feedback we have received has been great in this community wide effort and we hope this is the start of an annual tradition, celebrating the efforts that we as a town are making in the fight against climate change. Of course, if we all made small differences over the course of the year, this could have a big impact and help Frome become carbon neutral before 2030.”
The Wild About Green community exhibition held at the Town Hall will continue until the end of the month and then sent onto the leaders of COP26 to deliver Frome’s climate message.
