Frome charity The Pod and Frome Town Council have joined up this summer holiday, offering a series of free play sessions in Frome’s green spaces. The final sessions take place on Thursday 29th August, with a morning session at Brunel Green from 10am to 12pm, and an afternoon pop-up at Milk Street from 1pm to 3pm. FTC Engagement Officer Liz Stone, who helps to run the sessions, said:

“Come along to the last free scrap play sessions with the POD in Brunel Green, Stonebridge and Milk Street on 29th August. The popular Play Trolley in Victoria Park has been out on tour all summer, bringing weird and wonderful scrap to green spaces around Frome for some fun and imaginative play. Join us on 29th August, before the children are back at school and the play trolley returns home to Victoria Park. No booking necessary for any of the sessions – just bring some suitable footwear and your creativity!”

The scrap trolley contains recycled materials and scrap from the charity’s Scrapstore project, repurposing waste materials for creative play and using your imagination. The play trolley and the pop-up events over the summer are a joint project with Frome Town Council, as part of the council’s play strategy, offering an opportunity to get out of the house with children and enjoy time together. The sessions are free, in recognition that the summer holidays can be an expensive time for all families, and especially for those on low incomes.

The pop-up play sessions take place at Brunel Green, Stonebridge from 10am to 12pm on Thursday 29th August, and from 1pm to 3pm at Milk Street Green. Find out more about The Pod and its services for children and young people at https://thepodcharity.org.uk.
