18 young footballers from Frome Town United FC’s youth squad are heading for Frome’s twin town Murrhardt in Germany in July, having successfully reached their fundraising target for the trip. The players will take part in a mini European football tournament at Frome’s twin town Murrhardt in Germany from 5th to 7th July, timed to coincide with Euro 2024. They will play against teams from Frome’s other twin towns, Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne in France, and Rabka-Zdrój & Rötha in Poland, as well as Murrhardt, and will also have the opportunity to travel to Stuttgart Stadium and visit the fan zones/Euro Cup event areas within Stuttgart City Centre.
Fundraising activities included a bingo night at Badgers Hill and a challenge event that saw them climb Mount Snowdon. A bake sale is planned at Frome Tennis Club’s open day on Sunday 23rd June. They have already exceeded their £7,000 fundraising target to cover the cost of the trip.
Frome Town United Chairman Lee Seviour said ‘This is an amazing opportunity for the players, who have all played for Frome Town United since they were very little. They are now keen to represent their club and country, and to make Frome proud.’
