Retrofit talks coming to Frome Town Hall

Community Retrofit Lead Sally Richards is set to host a series of talks at the town hall around the Retrofit project in Frome. Retrofitting is an approach to making homes more sustainable and energy efficient through modifications or upgrades to existing structures. The project forms part of Frome Town Council’s Healthy Homes scheme, part of Green and Healthy Frome. The first of the talks will be a general introduction to retrofitting and an introduction to Green and Healthy Frome, moving on to the Frome retrofit project, the services on offer, and how residents can access advice and support with retrofitting their home.

The talk will be followed by a presentation from the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) in Bristol, who have partnered with Frome Town Council on the Healthy Homes project.

Sally said: “Retrofit refers to any improvement work on an existing building. I hope the talks will be interesting and helpful, but also a chance to meet other people on the retrofit journey over tea and biscuits. Sharing knowledge and local contacts with people who are also working on their homes can be super useful!”

Talks taking place over the course of the year will include themes such as: condensation, damp and mould; energy efficiency in older houses; heat pumps explained; solar panels and batteries explained, and the role of community groups in retrofitting.

Green and Healthy Frome is a unique partnership between Frome Town Council, Edventure Frome and Frome Medical Practice funded by The National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.
