I hope you are all well and coping with the very stormy weather we have been experiencing recently. We have been constantly battered by high winds and rain for most of January. Although we have not yet had very low temperatures, we still need to check in on our friends and neighbours. Let’s keep doing this all year round.
My January was not how I planned to start the new year. I have had Covid for a second time, which laid me low for 2 weeks, but I am recovering steadily. As a result, my 2024 plans to clean bus shelters have been delayed!
I’m looking forward to this year’s wassailing ceremony at Weylands on 3rd February, which will be a fun community event, including a competition to choose Frome’s new town crier. Do come along, make a wassail stick, watch the Morris dancers and enjoy a mulled cider or apple juice while we toast the trees and watch the crier candidates get put through their paces
The successful town crier’s first engagement is set to be the lighting of the Valentine lamp on Wednesday 14th February and, we hope, the first of many. A huge thank you goes to Town ranger Mike for all his hard work to tidy up the area around the lamp ready for the event.
Now that I am back on my feet, I will soon be back on the buses! Promoting buses, supporting bus user groups such as FAVBUG and of course more cleaning! Let’s keep using our bus services for all the reasons we know benefit our town and community – reducing traffic and pollution, helping those who rely on buses to get out and about and access essential services. My high vis and cleaning materials are ready: why not join me if you can?
