Family fun at Frome Walking Festival

The Frome Walking Festival programme has something to offer for the whole family. Taking place from Friday 10th – Sunday 12th November, most of the festival’s 18 walks are free and tickets are available to book now.

The festival is a great way to wrap up warm, get outside and learn about local history and nature from knowledgeable guides.

Test your nature detection skills on a fun nature treasure hunt, ideal for toddlers, pre-schoolers and kids who are home-educated. Or bring your whole family on an easy, buggy-friendly walk through some of Frome’s beautiful green spaces.

Of course, there are many walks suitable for all ages, so you can enjoy time outdoors with as much of your family as you like, from the youngest to the oldest. Stroll together along the River Frome and explore Rodden Nature Reserve, or brush up on your local history knowledge with walks such as the Plaques of Frome trail.

For teens there are a number of walks suitable for ages 14+. Why not spend 45 minutes on a free Celebrated Women of Frome walk, tracing the footsteps of some influential women from the town’s past?

A magical self-guided walk will be available too. Helen Viner, Wild About Trees officer at Frome Town Council, said: “make sure you stop by the Walkers are Welcome stall, by the Cheese & Grain each day of the festival, which will have free copies of the new map for the popular fairy doors trail in Welshmill woods. Pick up yours so you can visit the fairies whenever you like!”

Book your tickets and find out more at www.discoverfrome.co.uk/frome-walking-festival or pick up a programme, supported by Frome Selwood Rotary, at Frome Library or various locations around the town. You can also pop into Frome Town Hall or call 01373 465 757 if you would like any help booking your walks.
