The Plastic Free. Period team hosted an evening at the Archangel, where those gathered at this sociable, fun event learnt all about how easy it is to switch to reusable and ecologically friendly period products.
Jo Morris (from Frome Town Council) and Charlotte Carson (from Frome Medical Practice) who are both Period Product Specialists, were able to answer questions and show a variety of sustainable and plastic free period alternatives. There was an added bonus of all attendees being entered into a raffle to win a pair of period pants.
The Plastic Free. Period superheroes were there in full force, taking selfies of those who already use sustainable period products, or those who were pledging to start using more environmentally friendly solutions. And everyone joined in with a variety of an old school party game – splat the tampon, instead of a rat!
Daisy Bishop, a Plastic Free. Period young ambassador said: “Learning about these products can be informative and fun; seeing the products and being able to ask questions, along with a cocktail is a brilliant idea. If you couldn’t make the evening, there are products at the Town Hall so please do get in touch with the team who will be able to share their knowledge.”
Jo said: “People all over Frome are making the switch; it’s the easiest and cheapest solution. Not only does it help the environment by reducing waste but also using reusable alternatives costs on average 88% to 98% less than disposable ones. We had a great time; we hope to repeat the session again soon – please keep an eye on our website for further details.”
