Polling day is rapidly approaching on Thursday 5th May, Frome Town Council are hosting a hustings to give voters the chance to meet and question the candidates for the unitary and town council elections, listen to others and get involved in local politics.
The hustings will be on Sunday 1st May, between 5pm and 7pm, and candidates have been invited from all parties standing in the election to open themselves up to questions from the public at the Cheese & Grain.
These elections mark the first time the new Somerset Unitary Council seats are up for grabs. Therefore, these hustings will give voters the best opportunity to grill the candidates on their proposals to make a difference on the new council and to find out a little bit more about how it will potentially operate.
Only one seat is being contested in the town council elections. Town Clerk, Paul Wynne said, “We are surprised that only the Berkely Down Ward seat is to be contested in the Town/Parish elections, but wish all those standing across Frome the best of luck in the coming weeks.”
To submit questions for the hustings in advance, email Laura Flaherty with your name, question, who it is directed to and whether you would like to read it aloud at the meeting yourself. Remember to register to vote before the 14th April. For more information on the elections, and to book a slot at the hustings please visit our elections page.
