100% of the items brought in for repair at SHARE’s repair party on Sunday 10th June were successfully fixed. Organised by SHARE and Edventure in partnership with Frome Town Council, the monthly repair sessions are growing in popularity. Items fixed ranged from bikes to electrical items to clothes and furniture.
Aliss Vaas, SHARE Co-ordinator said ‘The room was buzzing and it was fantastic to see so many people working together to fix things that would otherwise be thrown away. A massive thanks to all the repairers and everyone who came.’
Mayor Richard Ackroyd who attended the event said ‘We all lead such busy lives, it’s not always easy to find the time, or skills, to repair things. This is a unique opportunity to get things fixed and maybe pick up some skills in the process.’
New SHARE Co-ordinator Sam Attard said ‘Repairs included IT fixing for the first time and several people had help sorting out their computer and tablet issues. Other items fixed included: a hedge trimmer, a dementia clock, a coffee grinder, a favourite cardigan, a hoover, toys, bikes and lots of guitar leads. I’m really looking forward to seeing more things shared and fixed over the next few months. If you want to get involved do pop into SHARE Weds to Sat for a chat.’
The next repair café will take place on Sunday 8th July from 3-5pm at the Welshmill Hub on Park Hill Drive. For more information visit: www.sharefrome.org
