John Law, one of the UK’s and Europe’s leading jazz pianists and trained classically in London and Vienna, has been teaching piano since 1984. Over all these years he has developed an approach to suit all different levels, concentrating on the individual’s particular abilities and needs, while teaching all the well-known methods and technical skills.
With over 35 years’ teaching experience behind him, John has developed a unique approach to inspiring creativity and developing a love for the piano and for music, in pupils of all ages.
John has taught from beginner to diploma level, with 100% success in exams. Five pupils awarded scholarships to national conservatoires and one pupil awarded the Gold Medal for the highest mark in the country at Grade 7 (two cash prizes!). He also specialises in less traditional approaches, teaching jazz, improvisation, composition… just being creative and having fun! Children and adults welcome.
He teaches at a school in Trowbridge as well as at home from his home studio teaching practice in the countryside outside Frome, where he has two grand pianos, electric keyboards, percussion and drums.
