The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) are back this year to help you leave the cold in 2021, by helping you to make your home warmer and your energy bills more affordable. Following the big successes of their energy-advice sessions last year, Frome is lucky to have them returning once again. In February and March, the CSE will be offering further one to one energy consultations, to give advice on the easy wins you can make in your home.
As part of the Healthy Homes project, the charity have partnered with Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council to help Frome’s residents in the colder months. So far they have given valuable advice to more than 650 residents in Frome, and as the temperature plummets this number is rising.
On Wednesday 9th February, they will be offering their services at a series of drop-in sessions at The Bridge Café between 11am and 1pm, as well as allocated time slots over the phone between 2 and 5pm which can be booked for free. These offer residents the chance to learn about the simple tricks you can deploy in these colder months to keep the warmth inside, plus to receive essential advice regarding available funding.
Cllr Rob Collett said: “The fantastic services of the CSE are going a long way to help people in Frome save money on energy, reduce their carbon footprint and stay warm and cosy this winter. Anyone who hasn’t already received help should sign up as soon as they can!”
The CSE are also working with Mendip District Council to offer landlords with an Energy Performance Certificate of below Band E assistance to improve their properties and meet legal requirements. Mendip District Council have secured £49,057 to help achieve this.
Further services available this winter include the Somerset Household Support Fund, a short-term means tested financial package for households struggling with the costs of essentials, such as food, energy and bills.
The Healthy Homes project is part of the Green and Healthy Futures Programme, funded by the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.
