Excitement is growing for the Glow in the Park event being held in the Old Showfield on Saturday 30th October. Frome Town Council will be opening the event with a look back over the past 18 months and the planting of commemorative blossom circles.
Inspired by the National Trust the design will feature two concentric circles with a heritage oak tree and seating in the heart of the space. The blossom circle is being planted to celebrate Frome and its communities during and since the pandemic. The outstanding people and groups nominated in Frome Times Group of the Year and Person of the Year for 2020, who went above and beyond during the pandemic, will be invited to help plant the special feature.
Cllr Anita Collier said: “We want to celebrate how we all came together as a town during the last 18 months, showing such strength and resilience. From neighbours looking out for each other to local organisations stepping up to ensure no one was left lonely or in need. We wanted to mark the occasion by highlighting a few of the people and groups who made a real difference in the town during an extremely challenging time.”
Glow in the Park takes place from 3.30 – 6.30pm; following the tree planting, there will be a host of fun activities including apple pressing, lantern making, pumpkin decorating finishing with the spectacular drone display when the skies go dark, hosted by local company Celestial and funded by the Arts Council England.
