Frome Town Council sells its office in Palmer Street to fund the new Frome Town Hall

Frome Town Council is delighted to confirm that its offices at 5 Palmer Street have been sold to a local property developer from Frome. The sale price was £340k which is £65k more than the Council bought Frome Town Hall on Christchurch Street West for.
Mel Usher, Leader of the Council said, “It says a lot about the vibrancy of the town that Palmer Street is an up and coming street to do business in. This wouldn’t have happened five years ago.”
Local man Peter Williamson has purchased the property and is planning to let the ground floor as two retail units, while the first floor will be business, the top floor will be a residential flat.
Mel continues “Selling the Palmer Street offices was the last part of the relocation project. Frome Town Hall will house We Hear You, Fair Frome, Active and In Touch, Frome FM as well as the Council’s offices. We also have two fully equipped meeting rooms and a wonderful Chamber – all available for community groups to hire at competitive prices. Frome Town Hall is a resource for the whole community as a place to hold meetings, parties and weddings. We will also be providing a central point for everyone to use, either in person, on the phone or via our website. We are planning an open day soon, so watch this space.”
