Hosted by Frome Chamber of Commerce and Frome Town Council and part-funded by Mendip District Council, Tuesday 27th September saw another in the popular Discuss & Do series with an enlightening discussion on The Cloud and how it can be successfully implemented into developing businesses.
Dispelling misconceptions on just what The Cloud is, Adam Harling from Netitude Ltd led the event with a compelling account of how The Cloud operates in the modern world. Drawing upon well-known cloud based productivity suites such as Microsoft’s Office 365, as well as popular file sharing services such as Dropbox, Adam illustrated the high level of integration that The Cloud has already achieved with increasing numbers of businesses worldwide choosing to store their data, and run their services, through networks of off-site servers.
As with previous Discuss & Do events, the session led into a lively debate with a number of local business owners sharing their experiences of keeping up-to-date with ever-developing technology. Despite the recent fall in prices of hardware-based storage devices, such as flash drives and external hard drives, due to the flexibility and universal access offered by The Cloud it would appear that it is certainly here to stay.
As an example of one of the many similar events offered through the Discuss & Do series, this recent evening offered local businesses the opportunity to come together and share their own experiences with prominent issues related to business.
