The next in the popular series of Frome Business Breakfasts takes place on Tuesday 6th September at The Assembly Rooms, behind the Memorial Theatre on Christchurch Street West. Kicking off at 7am with a hearty cooked breakfast, tea and coffee the meeting will be hosted by Cath Puddick from Cisco Systems. Cath will be making a brief presentation and engaging delegates in an interactive session that addresses some of the issues that businesses frequently experience.
Town Centre Coordinator, Mark Brookes said “Keeping online businesses, emails and websites safe is an issue that worries most companies, whether they are sole traders, small companies or larger concerns. Some town centre business owners have long feared falling victim to scams and viruses. One retailer said that despite having decent virus protection and filtering out junk messages some potentially damaging emails and attachments still get through and that, whilst they were very careful, it would only take a moment’s lack of concentration for a member of staff to click on a potentially damaging link. Another trader, who pays his invoices online and sells via PayPal said that whilst he had not had any issues yet, he was generally worried as to how vulnerable he might be to online fraud”. Mark added “One local business that has clients bringing in data and images on memory sticks was concerned about the possibility of viruses being transferred onto their system, despite having protection installed on their IT equipment.”
The Frome Business Breakfast sessions are open to all local businesses and community enterprises. As well as the main Cyber Security theme for the September event the gatherings offer excellent opportunities to network with other business owners. The event costs £10 per person and includes a delicious buffet breakfast. Registration in advance using the link below is essential.
