Views wanted from Performing Arts Charities, Groups & Organisations

All schools, performing arts groups, community projects, charities and local arts organisations from Frome and the surrounding area are invited to come along to share their experiences and talk about ways in which Frome town council could better support the local performing arts scene at a Performing Arts Panel meeting on 19 July, at Rook Lane chapel 7-9pm.

Councillor Al O’Kane, who chairs the panel, said “We’re in the process of holding six meetings – with this next one dedicated to schools, all performing arts groups, community projects, charities and local arts organisations. As with all panel meetings – everyone is welcome to attend.”

He adds “The objective of the panel is to identify ways in which the town council can help maintain and support the development of the wonderful performing arts scene here in Frome and the surrounding area. The meeting will focus on what is good, what can be improved, what people and organisations need, and what the town council might be able to do to help.”

Al has been the driving force in putting this series of panels in motion, and continues “Myself and the other councillors involved are really enjoying hearing from all sectors of the performing arts scene. Our town is so rich in creative talent, but with the government cuts in the arts over the last few years, it’s about time we had a chance to voice the issues we face, and hopefully discover new ways of helping each other.”

The meeting is open to the public and press. Anyone who would like to be involved but is unable to attend can email their thoughts to admin@frometowncouncil.gov.uk and this will be added to feedback obtained from the meeting. For further information, call 01373 465757.
