Frome’s vibrant and diverse performing artists are joining ranks. From jazz musicians and actors to jugglers, dancers and DJs, Frome is proud to boast some of the finest performing artists in the South West. However, with such an active artistic community, do our performers face common problems? Are there more opportunities to work together? These are just a few of the questions being raised at Frome Town Council’s Performing Arts Panel on 17 May.
All performers from Frome and the surrounding area are invited to come along to share their experiences and talk about ways in which Frome Town Council could better support local artists. This is an excellent opportunity for your voice to be heard, and for real, practical action to be taken.
April’s Performing Arts Panel saw over 50 people coming together representing local venues and discussing ideas including collaborative promotions, event ideas, equipment sharing and licensing issues.
Leading the new panel series is Town Councillor and local musician Al O’Kane. Al said “This town is home to some of the finest performers in the South West, we have some of the best musicians, bands and singers, a brilliant theatrical community, amazing dancers, puppeteers and comedians, there are even several internationally acclaimed musicians living in the town. Getting involved in this discussion means that you can have your voice heard, the Town Council want to hear your views and pool your thoughts together with those of the venues and others in the performing arts sector enabling Frome to promote itself even more as a town with a vibrant and established arts scene. I hope that this meeting for performers will be busy and constructive.”
